MIKSER TALKS: CIRCLE II DAY – RECORDING

The second day of the KRUG program is realized in partnership with NALED as an expert seminar on the role of the private sector in the transformation of society towards a circular economy, with concrete solutions and examples of good practices in the field of recycling and treatment of electronic waste, plastic and glass packaging. We present innovative projects of international cooperation in the field of nature-inspired solutions in modern cities in which domestic experts also participate, and we discuss their importance for updating domestic practices according to European standards.

Circular Economy Program

Is the Serbian economy ready for a radical transformation from linear to circular? What awaits us at the beginning, and what at the end of the road to the circular economy? Do we have enough knowledge and motivation to turn waste into a resource, and what is the role of the state in that transformation?

EE waste and battery recycling
Where does electronic waste and batteries end up? What are the obstacles to the development of recycling of special waste streams? Do citizens have the opportunity to dispose of broken household appliances in accordance with the law? Does the legal framework stimulate or hinder the establishment of an efficient EE waste and battery management system?

Management of glass packaging
How to establish a system of primary selection of glass packaging waste? How can we send glass bottles and jars to recycling factories instead of landfills? How to include the HoReCa sector and enable caterers to dispose of their glass packaging according to the law, and how to motivate citizens to take empty jars to the recycling container? Can the economy, local governments, utility companies, and citizens work together to establish an endless cycle of glass recycling and preserve not only the environment but also natural resources?

EU perspectives
We present innovative projects of international cooperation in the field of nature-inspired solutions in modern cities in which domestic experts also participate. Are we discussing their importance for updating domestic practices according to European standards and analyzing how far Serbia has come in preparing for the opening of Chapter 27 on the environment?

The deposit system is the path to a circular economy

What is a deposit system and who manages it? How did the EU Disposable Plastics Directive open the door for the introduction of a deposit system for packaging? Is a refund for packaging the only way to keep plastic bottles from ending up in our rivers? Can we organize and finance a system that allows a recycling rate of 90% without disturbing consumer habits and the market itself?
