A Plastic Ocean

The film that follows this year’s theme of the Festival, in the executive production of Leonard DiCaprio, should have been a story about an elusive blue whale. However, a sudden twist is created when the film crew finds a bunch of plastic waste in a part of the ocean that should have been completely clean and preserved. Filmed over four years, the film is discovering and exploring the sensitive state of the World Ocean at 20 different locations.
This unique testimony provides an insight into the plastic pollution – 8 million tons of plastic annually ends up in the ocean, and uncovers serious and alarming consequences to the animals living in and around the sea, as well as health risks for humans. “Plastic Ocean” offers solutions that can be immediately applied to put this dangerous situation under control as soon as possible.
