“Šaban” is a documentary film about Saban Bajramovic, who has left an indelible mark, not only in the Yugoslav music, but also on the world music. He has recorded 20 albums, fifty singles, wrote and composed more than 700 songs. The famous song “Djelem, Djelem” in his interpretation became an anthem for the Roma world. At the personal invitation of Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, he sang in India, where he was officially proclaimed king of the Roma music. The magazine “Time” named him one of the top ten blues singers in the world.The legendary singer of Roma music, died in 2008 from the effects of attacks.
Director Miloš Stojanović tells the story of exceptional artist through his love with his wife Milica. They were together for thirty-five years, and she followed him into the water and into the fire. Saban was a passionate gambler, an alcoholic and a womanizer. He was making incredible amounts of money, but, nevertheless, lived in a modest home in Nis.
