Dutch pavillon @ 9th Mikser festival 2017: Migration

netherlands

Mikser Festival and the Embassy of The Netherlands are presenting Dutch artists, professionals, organizations and projects within the Dutch pavilion. Within the Dutch pavilion people will have an opportunity to see an exhibition that will showcase selected projects, while their representatives will participate in the talks within the cycle “Cities for all” in Mikser Talk zone and within the EDU zone.

Pakhuis de Zwijger is a unique cultural organisation which opened its doors in 2006 and has grown to be an independent platform for and by the city of Amsterdam and its inhabitants.  It stimulates collaboration towards a livable city, puts urgent matters on the agenda, linking them to the creative industry. It is about integrating, connecting domains and disciplines, sharing knowledge and experiences, and designing and imagineering the future of everyday living. Egbert Fransen, director of Pakhuis de Zwijger will take part in Panel discussion: Culture Factories and he will tell more about the concept of this organization.

Startblok Riekerhaven is a ‘European laboratory’ for housing and integrating young refugees and young Dutch people. We will hear more about it from Fleur Eymann within the Mikser Talks: Cities for all. Taconis Stolk is a conceptualist and metamodernist. He is the initiator of WLFR, studio for conceptualism in Amsterdam. Since the mid-nineties WLFR has been developing metamedia projects and theory concerning the æsthetics of concepts and contextual technology, often at the intersection of art and science. Within the program Mikser Talks he will discuss with other participants how art can contribute to the development of cities.

WeLoveTheCity is taking part in the concept development and running the pilots in the three cities. We’re doing that in the form of ‘Smartathons’. In the first round (2016), we’re inventorying the ideas and needs of citizens, entrepreneurs and local government. In the second round (2017), participants can test the prototype of the urban platform. It may sound abstract, but we’re of course doing it all on the basis of urgent and socially-relevant cases. Andries Geers will within the Mikser Talks program Cities for all present projects they are currently working.
