THEY HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON EXCEPT GRANDCHILDREN

This project consists of three digital collages created in 2024. Each collage measures 50×100 cm. In the artwork, I manipulated with the only photographs I have of my grandmothers. Instead of directly portraying their faces, I chose to fragment the images, erasing their individuality. The focus shifts from solely representing my grandmothers to speaking for everyone by uniting two significant figures. In this case, the two grandmothers symbolically represent peace and security for me. By using the term “grandchild”, without specifying the gender of the child, I leave the room for everyone to identify with the figure, moving beyond a personal perspective. The grandchild, as the central figure, acts as a generational bridge, symbolically overcoming differences and striving for a shared future.
