EXHIBITION YOUNG BALKAN DESIGNERS AT THE MUSEUM OF APPLIED ARTS
Mikser Association is honored to present one-day, interactive exhibition of selected prototypes of Young Balkan Designers 2022 selection, which will be held at the Museum of Applied Arts (Vuka Karadžića 18, Belgrade), on Thursday, May 19 starting at 6PM.
This exhibition will present the winning, innovative design solutions of Young Balkan Designers regional competitions as answers to themes “Life Hacks” and “Circular Design”, right before the participation of Balkan selection at the Salone Satellite talent exhibition of the most prominent global design event – Milan International Furniture Fair 2022, which after two years of delay due to the pandemic will be held 7-12 June, 2022.

This years’s competition for Young Balkan Designers recieved a total of 111 works by 125 designers from 9 countries in the region: Bosnia i Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Greece, Croatia, Romania, Slovenia, Serbia and Turkey.
Evaluating innovativeness, applicability of design solutions and their potential impact on healthier and sustainable lifestyle, the international jury of the Mikser competition gathered relevant experts in the field of contemporary design and art, such as Marcus Fairs, founder and editor-in-chief of one of the world’s most influential design portals Dezeen.com; alumni of the Young Balkan Designers platform, now accomplished young creators: Ana Kras, a multi-talented artist and designer from Serbia who works and lives in the USA; Vasso Asfi and Loukas Angelou, design tandem StudioLav from Greece who are successfully building a career in the UK; Jovana Zhang, co-founder of the award-winning design team Pinwu from China which combines traditional crafts with contemporary experimental design; Denis Leo Hegic, designer and curator of the Berlin Informal Art Scene, founder of the creative studio Supermarket Lab and the Unblock Art Fair in Germany, as well as the virtual Museum of Now, with the mentorship of the expert team of the YBD initiative consisting of co-founders of the YBD platform, Maja Lalic, co-founder of Mixer Organization and Jelena Matic, professor at the Faculty of Forestry in Belgrade, and renowned industrial designer Nikola Radeljkovic from Numen / For Use (Croatia).

Young Balkan Designers (YBD) is a regional talent platform founded in 2011 with the aim to identify, promote and develop creative potential of the Balkan region in the field of design. The initiative also aims at unifying the regional design scene, bringing it closer to the international audience, strengthening its potential by providing additional education and practice, while at the same time contributing to the restoration of multicultural cooperation in the Balkan region.
