The work explores what the years bring and when we can finally relax and be who we are. Does one really need to wait for old age to be as free as when we were children, or even then, can we not escape the universal fears and insecurities that accompany us regardless of age? Is it possible that even in old age we still do not know who we are? In the form of a gif that alludes to the endlessly repeating actions of an absurd reality, the work through scenography and props of the image maps one person’s search for their identity. This is us from the future, desperate because we still do not know who we are, what to believe in, and how to satisfy ourselves.
Katarina Keti Zaharijev
Katarina Keti Zaharijev (Trogir, 1990) is an architect, graphic, and set designer. She completed her bachelor’s and master’s studies at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade. Since 2020, she has been a doctoral student in the field of Stage Design at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad. She is engaged in graphic design, stage design,and architecture. She participated in numerous competitions and won first place in the Print category at the Young Lions Serbia competition, qualifying for the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. As an author, she exhibited works at several collective exhibitions in the fields of art, architecture and graphic design. She was part of the creative team for the Student Exibition during Serbia’s National Performance at the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space in 2023, with the art piece “Daydreaming,” which won the Gold Medal for the most imaginative concept. Since 2019, she has been a member of the theater group Le Studio, where she explores visual aspects of theater. Last year, she worked on set design and puppet design for the theater play “Forgotten Princesses.” Currently, she is working on the scenography and puppet design for the short animated film “Death Party.” She is employed as an assistant at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, Department of Art and Design.
