GLOW LAMP

The LightEd Lamp is an innovative and sustainable lighting solution, designed to address the dual challenges of environmental waste and energy scarcity in underserved communities. Using recycled materials, such as sign-use plastic bottles and waste plastic filaments, this project transforms potential landfill waste into valuable, energy-efficient lighting. Central to the design is its simplicity and cost-effectiveness; each lamp costs only $3 to produce. The design resembles a Lego set, enabling community members to easily assemble their lamps, fostering a sense of ownership and participation. This DIY approach not only empowers communities but also enhances the distribution and maintenance of the lighting systems. LightEd Lamp’s impact extends beyond providing light; it encourages recycling, reduces waste, and supports local economies by utilizing locally sourced materials. The outcomes are measurable in terms of lamps distributed, waste diverted, and enhanced community welfare through improved access to sustainable energy.
