Belgrade Students of Architecture join the euPOLIS project
The euPolis project and the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade have finished a student competition to develop an urbanistic-architectural-conceptual design for a blue-green park on the Zemun quay with the euPolis eco-edu center building.
The competition was open to master and doctoral students of architecture at the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade. This was an opportunity to join the euPOLIS project and participate in constructing ideas for the thematic “blue-green” park and euPOLIS eco-edu center on Zemun Quay in Belgrade, using the nature-inspired solutions that favorably affect the physical and mental health of its users.
An introductory workshop was held recently at the Faculty of Architecture where euPOLIS experts, with the support of independent professionals and friends of the project, introduced students to the euPOLIS methodology of urban planning and of all aspects through which they will be able to influence the health and well-being of citizens.
From urban and wastewater management, influencing the microclimate and temperature in public and residential areas, planting strategies for certain plants to achieve optimal urban biodiversity and avoid the negative consequences and impacts that certain plants have – are just some of the new knowledge and skills that students will acquire and apply in their solutions in the coming period through working with euPOLIS experts.
